At Legacy, we not only have many nonprofit clients involved in helping others (see our Client in the Spotlight featured in this issue), but we are involved in our own unique way. Every week, our firm (on behalf of the Social Committee) hosts “Wear-It-Wednesday,” where employees can each pay $5 to wear jeans to the office. This initiative funds the “Employees of Legacy Making a Difference Fund,” which is made up entirely of employee donations.
Our employees nominate organizations that they would like to support with the funds raised. We have donated to many worthy organizations such as BraveHearts, Make a Wish Foundation, and Ronald McDonald Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. This past holiday season, we collected hundreds of nonperishable food items in all three offices and dropped them off at local food pantries. We also purchased gifts with the funds and donated them to local hospitals, families, and other organizations. During the months leading up to the back-to-school season, we collect and donate school supplies to local organizations.
In addition, members of our Firm joined our client, Chicago Cares, in its annual Serve-A-Thon on June 25, 2016. Employees and their guests joined 5,000 other volunteers to work together on service projects throughout the Chicagoland area. It was an inspiring day of service and fellowship for all who participated.
Over the last three years, our efforts have raised over $19,000 which we have donated back to the various charities and initiatives we have chosen to support. As a firm, we are so proud to be making even a small difference in our communities. Visit http://www.legacycpas.com/employees-of-legacy-making-a-difference on our website for more information.
